Computer Literacy Curriculum

First Grade

 

 

 

A student in First Grade will demonstrate behavior that is in keeping with Catholic values when using technology, including respect for property, honesty, and compassion. Students will be expected to work cooperatively with peers when using technology in the classroom.

 

In addition to supporting the General Computing Knowledge objectives introduced in Kindergarten, a student completing the First Grade will:

 

á      Explain the basics of how a hard drive works.

á      Identify the doÕs and don'ts of using a hard drive.

á      Understand the size of a hard drive in relation to external storage media.

á      Open and close a non-application file using the mouse.

á      Choose from the menu bar using the mouse. 

á      Locate the menu bar and pull down each menu.

 

In addition to supporting the Keyboarding objectives introduced in Kindergarten, a student completing the First Grade will:

 

á      Use informal keyboarding skills to type words.

á      Use informal keyboarding skills to type phrases.

á      Use informal keyboarding skills to type sentences.

 

A First Grade student will use software that supports Core-Curriculum objectives.
