Computer Literacy Curriculum
A student in Fourth Grade
will demonstrate behavior that is in keeping with Catholic values when using
technology, including respect for property, honesty, and compassion. A Fourth
Grade student will identify everyday uses of computers and appreciate the
academic possibilities available through technology.
In addition to supporting and
mastering the General Computing Knowledge objectives introduced in the previous grades, a student completing
the Fourth Grade will:
á Create
a folder.
á Move
files to a folder.
á Copy
files to another disk.
á Describe
different input and output devices.
á Identify
everyday uses of computers.
á Explain
virus protection and what it does.
In addition to supporting the
Keyboarding objectives from
previous grades, a student completing the Fourth Grade in the Diocese of San
Diego will continue to polish and enhance formal keyboarding skills using
proper technique.
A Fourth Grade student will
use software that supports Core-Curriculum objectives.
In addition to supporting and
mastering the Graphics concepts
introduced in the previous grades, a student completing the Fourth Grade will:
á Highlight
a graphic using the frame/marquee or lasso tool in a point program.
á Move
a graphic to another location on the screen in a graphics program.
á Duplicate
an object in a graphics program.
á Apply
special effects to a graphic, such as rotate, stretch, and perspective, in a
graphics program.
á Change
the size or shape of an object using the edge handles in a graphics program.
á Use
the text tool in a graphics program.
á Move
an object in a graphics program.
In addition to supporting and
mastering the Word Processing
concepts introduced in the previous grades, a student completing the Fourth
Grade will:
á Cut,
copy, and paste text.
á Demonstrate
proofreading skills.
A student will be introduced
to the Internet and Telecommunications
and, prior to the completion of Fourth Grade, will:
á Understand
the function, restrictions and security of electronic mail (e-mail).
á Open
a Web browser.
á Enter
a Uniform Resource Locator (URL).
á Use
hypertext links.
á Use
the tool bar in a Web browser.
á Use
a variety of ways to get to a Web site.
á Save
sites using a bookmark, hot list, or favorite.
á Use
the Ôsave asÕ command.
A student will be introduced
to Electronic Presentations and,
prior to the completion of Fourth Grade, will:
á Understand
the concept of slides.
á Understand
the concept of electronic presentations.
á Understand
the concept of views.
á Create
a new slide.
á Delete
a slide.
á Move
between the different views.
