Fifth
Grade
A student in Fifth Grade will
demonstrate behavior that is in keeping with Catholic values when using
technology, including respect for property, honesty, and compassion. A Fifth
Grade student will understand the impact of technology on society, understand
the place of technology in everyday life and will discuss basic issues related
to responsible use of technology, piracy, plagiarism, and describe personal
consequences of inappropriate use.
In addition to supporting and
mastering the General Computing Knowledge objectives introduced in the previous grades, a student completing
the Fifth Grade will:
á Define
software terms. (for example: DOS, spreadsheet, utilities)
á Define
hardware terms. (for example: RAM, ROM, CPU)
á Identify
the function of physical components of a computer system.
In addition to supporting the
Keyboarding objectives from
previous grades, a student completing the Fifth Grade will continue to polish
and enhance formal keyboarding skills using proper technique.
A Fifth Grade student will
use software that supports Core-Curriculum objectives.
In addition to supporting and
mastering the Graphics concepts
introduced in the previous grades, a student completing the Fifth Grade will:
á Duplicate
an object in a graphics program.
á Group
objects in a graphics program.
á Change
the layer order of objects in a graphics program.
á Apply
special effects, such as rotate and flip horizontal/vertical, in a graphics
program.
á Copy
a graphic to the clipboard.
á Paste
or insert the graphic into another document.
In addition to supporting and
mastering the Word Processing
concepts introduced in the previous grades, a student completing the Fifth
Grade will:
á
Manipulate the layout of a document, using margins,
justification, and line spacing.
á
Create indents and overhanging indents.
á
Use page breaks.
á
Move or copy text between two or more word processing
documents.
á
Import, position, and manipulate relevant graphics into
a word processing document.
á
Use the "save as" feature to create copies or
new versions of documents.
In addition to supporting and
mastering the Internet and Telecommunications objectives introduced in the
previous grades, a student completing the Fifth Grade will:
á Use
required software.
á Complete
required tasks for an online project.
In addition to supporting and
mastering the Electronic Presentation
objectives introduced in the previous grades, a student completing the Fifth
Grade will:
á Use
paint tools to illustrate a slide.
á Add
text to a slide.
á Combine
slides into a presentation.
á Reorganize
the slides using the sorter view.
á Control
the pace or timing of a presentation.
á Effectively
use transitions.
