Seventh
Grade
A student in Seventh Grade
will demonstrate behavior that is in keeping with Catholic values when using
technology, including respect for property, honesty, and compassion. A Seventh
Grade student will demonstrate knowledge of current changes in information
technology and the effect those changes have on the workplace and society.
In addition to supporting and
mastering the General Computing Knowledge objectives introduced in the previous grades, a student completing
the Seventh Grade will:
á Identify
and explain the difference between external ports. (for example: USB, parallel,
fire-wire)
á Explain
what integrated circuits are.
á Identify
the operating system and what it does.
In addition to supporting the
Keyboarding objectives from
previous grades, a student completing the Seventh Grade will continue to polish
and enhance formal keyboarding skills using proper technique.
A student completing the
Seventh Grade will use different software applications together for projects
that support and enhance Core-Curriculum objectives.
In addition to supporting and
mastering the Word Processing
concepts introduced in the previous grades, a student completing the Seventh
Grade will:
á Insert,
and customize footers and headers.
á Enter
and modify page numbers.
á Create
or import spreadsheets into word processing documents.
á Create
tables.
In addition to supporting and
mastering the Internet and Telecommunications objectives introduced in the previous grades, a student completing
the Seventh Grade will:
á Use
the directory buttons in the Web browser.
á Organize
bookmarks and favorites.
á Evaluate
Web pages using evaluation criteria.
In addition to supporting and
mastering the Electronic Presentation
objectives introduced in the previous grades, a student completing the Seventh
Grade will:
á
Add graphs to a slide.
á
Develop and modify color schemes of a slide.
á
Add background elements to a slide.
á
Create and modify templates.
In addition to supporting and
mastering the Database objectives
introduced in the previous grades, a student completing the Seventh Grade will:
á Retrieve
a record from an electronic database using greater than, less than, and range
criteria.
á Determine
what items to use when creating a database.
á Determine
the type of information to go into each field when creating a database.
á Determine
the layout of a record when creating a database.
á Name,
save, and test the database.
á Edit
the database.
á Create
and answer higher order questions using information in a database.
á Use
the database to suggest trends.
á Explain
misinformation and misrepresentation issues related to data.
á Outline
issues related to privacy and protection from theft and fraud.
á Identify
potential errors in creating, fitting, and using data.
In addition to supporting and
mastering the Spreadsheet objectives
introduced in the previous grades, a student completing the Seventh Grade will:
á Build
a formula into a cell.
á Copy
and paste values and formulas to selected cells.
á Protect
cells from changes.
á Analyze
the effects of changes made to the spreadsheet.
á Use
the data within a spreadsheet to create charts and graphs.
á Design
a spreadsheet.
á Determine
what data items to use when designing a spreadsheet.
á Test
the data items in the spreadsheet.
