Computer Literacy Curriculum
Eighth
Grade
Diocese
of San Diego
A student in Eighth Grade will
demonstrate behavior that is in keeping with Catholic values when using
technology, including respect for property, honesty, and compassion. An Eighth
Grade student will demonstrate legal and ethical behaviors when using
information and technology and discuss consequences of misuse.
In addition to supporting and
mastering the General Computing Knowledge
objectives introduced in the previous grades, a student completing the Eighth
Grade will:
á Describe
emerging technologies.
á Identify
and explain computer related careers.
á Describe
future uses of computers.
In addition to supporting the Keyboarding objectives from previous grades, a student
completing the Eighth Grade will continue to polish and enhance formal
keyboarding skills using proper technique and pass a 25 wpm speed and 90%
accuracy three (3) minute typing test.
A student completing the Eighth
grade will use different software applications together for projects that
support and enhance Core-Curriculum
objectives.
In addition to supporting and
mastering the Word Processing concepts
introduced in the previous grades, a student completing the Eighth Grade will
understand and use proper standard documentation formats, endnotes and
footnotes.
In addition to supporting and
mastering the Internet and Telecommunications objectives introduced in the previous grades, a student completing the
Eighth Grade will:
á Understand
that HTML is an evolving language.
á Understand
what HTML is.
á Add
links to presently posted Web pages.
á Add
images from the Web to his/her work.
á Use
an image, from the Web as a link.
á Add
a background image, list, and table to a basic page.
á Discuss
advantages and disadvantages of HTML editors, compared with writing raw HTML
code.
A student completing the Eighth
grade will be able to use Graphics, Electronic
Presentation, Database, and Spreadsheet applications effectively and demonstrate all skills
learned from previous grades.
