7th Grade - Carlos Rossi Arteaga

Carlos Rossi Arteaga was born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, but later moved to New York where he graduated from Iona Preparatory. After high school, Carlos moved to the middle of Pennsylvania where he attended Bucknell University. While at Bucknell, he majored in Literature, Art, and Art History and was also a member of the Varsity Swim Team for two years.

After college, Carlos moved to New York City, where he worked in the art department on Woody Allen's film, "The Curse of the Jade Scorpion." After production ended, Carlos moved to Philadelphia in order to work at Nueva Esperanza Academy, where he taught Comprehensive English Language Arts, Arts Literacy, and Sophomore Arts Lab. During his time at NEA, Carlos served as the Head of the Art Department as well as the Head Basketball Coach of the NEA Scorpions. While at NEA, Carlos also met his wife, Andrea, who happened to be teaching World History at the time. Shortly after getting married they decided to move cross-country to San Diego where they have been living since August of 2003.

Carlos believes his passion for education "runs in the family" and has been passed down to him from his mother who has been teaching Math in New York for over twenty years, and his grandmother who was a principal in Puerto Rico. Carlos feels blessed to have an opportunity to share this passion with Sacred Heart community, and truly enjoys working with its students and staff.
