7th Grade - Carlos Rossi Arteaga

Mr. Arteaga was born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, but later moved to New York City where he graduated from Iona Preparatory High School.

After high school Carlos moved to Pennsylvania where he attended Bucknell University. He received his B.A. in Literature from Bucknell. He minored in Art and Art History. While at Bucknell he was a member of the swim team.

After college Mr. Arteaga moved back to New York City where he worked in the art department on Woody Allen's film, "The Curse of the Jade Scorpion." After production ended, Carlos moved to Philadelphia in order to work at Nueva Esperanza Academy where he taught Comprehensive English Language Arts, Arts Literacy, and Sophomore Arts Lab. During his time at NEA, he served as the Head of the Art Department as well as the head basketball coach of the NEA Scorpions. While at NEA he met his wife, Andrea, who was teaching World History. Shortly after getting married, they decided to move cross country to San Diego where they have been living since 2003.

Carlos has been educating and working with children for the past eleven years, and is currently in the process of obtaining his Masters Degree and clear credential. He believes his passion for education runs in the family and has been passed down to him from his mother who has been teaching math in New York for over twenty years, and his grandmother who was a principal in Puerto Rico.

Carlos feels blessed to have an opportunity to share this passion with the Sacred Heart community, and truly enjoys working with its students and staff.
